Forse le risposte sono già finite; forse nessuno ce le vuole dire; forse è meglio così. Se ci dicessero il vero, troveremmo ancora più assurda la sua esclusione dal grande circo. Passò quasi innoservata e chi ci andò non capì quella pittura fatta di cose in movimento. La pittura era e doveva essere sempre ferma. Bella, maestosa, ma ferma. Invece quei quattro pittori avevano osato darle un movimento, un’impressione. Qualcuno cominciò ad osservare quelle opere nel profondo e scoprì che il mondo reale non è statico ma sempre in movimento, che l’impressione, non è cosa immobile, me nello spazio del tempo si modifica; come le idee, i pensieri, i sentimenti. Era nato l’impressionismo che cambiò radicalmente il modo di dipingere e di concepire la vita; non più solo bella, ma bella e viva.
